In larger parts not metabolised. Alkylamines are mechanism-based inhibitors of CYPs 1A2, 2A6, 2C9, 2D6.
Chemical description
Aminoalkyl thiazol H2-receptor antagonist used in ventricular hypersecretion. A smaller part is metabolized giving rise to sulfoxide (6%), N-oxide (5%) and desmethylnizatidine (7%). About 60% excreted in urine in unchanged form. South African list: use with care. French list: avoid
